Ultrasurf VPN Mod is a proxy application that establishes encrypted TLS tunnels to route internet traffic, masking the user's IP address. It is designed for users requiring basic censorship circumvention and privacy on public Wi-Fi networks. The app operates at the application level, integrating with the Android VPN service to secure traffic from other apps.
What This Mod Unlocks
- Bandwidth restrictions removed. The daily or monthly data cap imposed in the official version is disabled.
- Premium server locations unlocked. All regional servers, including high-speed and low-latency options typically behind a paywall, are available for selection.
- Advertisements disabled. All interstitial and banner ad requests are blocked, preventing ad network connections.
- Connection speed throttling removed. The artificial speed limit applied to free users is no longer enforced.
The mod functions by patching the client-side validation checks for subscription status and data usage. The Ultrasurf VPN Mod app connects to the same proxy infrastructure, but the modded client reports a premium user status.
To access the premium servers, open the server selection menu within the Ultrasurf VPN Mod interface after connecting. The full list of locations will be available without the "Upgrade" prompts.
The mod requires Android 5.0 or higher. It does not require root access. Installation requires approximately 20 MB of storage for the APK file and subsequent app data.
Installation Steps
- Download the Ultrasurf VPN Mod mod APK file.
- Enable "Install from Unknown Sources" for your file manager or browser in Android Settings.
- Open the downloaded APK file and confirm the installation prompt.
- Launch Ultrasurf VPN Mod and grant the VPN connection permission when requested.
Known Edge Cases
- The mod may not bypass deep packet inspection (DPI) used by some networks to block VPN traffic; this is a protocol limitation, not a mod issue.
- If the app's data is cleared, the server list may revert to a default state until the app fetches the list again from the network.
- On some custom Android ROMs, the VPN permission dialog may appear twice; granting it once is sufficient.
